Rudolf Mirer, born in Chur, the capital of the canton of Graubünden, in 1937, initially worked as a creative designer for the textile industry after attending an arts and crafts school. During a longer stay in Rome as a member of the Papal Swiss Guard at the Vatican, he was also confronted with the cultural richness of the Eternal City. Deeply impressed, he made the decision to become a painter. (He was deeply impressed by this and made the decision to become a painter.) After his return to Switzerland, he went to work resolutely and persistently to put into practice the decision taken in Rome. The first years of his artistic activity became a pure struggle for existence. But Rudolf Mirer was always convinced that he would find his way as an artist.
