A very special beautiful painting in an authentic ornamental frame. Signed clearly lower right. Ruurd Elzer 1915-1995 After a written drawing course, the preparation for the Academy was Minerva. Because of Elzer's interest in painting, he decided after careful consideration to start a conversation with Jan Altink. He was willing to give him private painting lessons. Elzer joined De Groninger Ploeg. After the war, at the end of 1945, he was present as an exhibitor at the first Ploeg exhibition and not long after that he had his first solo exhibition in the Beerenhuis in the Folkingestraat in Groningen. Portraits and landscapes were subjects to which Elzer gladly surrendered. He also achieved the most convincing results within these themes. Please note, the authentic ornamental frame has visible (somewhat) repaired damage. The painting deserves a new frame.
