Painting “An interior with rays of light on silk”. Signed S. Allason. Late 19th century. Oil on thick cardboard Painting that represents a study of a chair with a sage green fabric and a pink veil of shiny and semi-transparent silk. Great poetry in the combinations of light and colors. Oil on cardboard. Frame not antique, with glass. Signed lower right Silvio Allason was first employed in the Ministry of War, but from around 1867 he devoted himself solely to painting. After a stay in Florence, he studied in Turin, at the Accademia Albertina. Cousin of the painter Ernesto Allason. He began to exhibit at the Promoter of Turin in 1869; in 1873, he achieved notable success with the painting "In agguato". He has made a specialty of night light effects with the moon. He also exhibited in Milan, Naples, Paris (Salon of 1878) , Nice, where one of his paintings (Among the Rocks) was purchased for the Chéret Museum. Other works by him are in the Civic Museum of Turin (Episode of the Persecution of the Waldensians; First furrows; Varazze; Castle of Montalto-Dora) . He died in Turin on May 13, 1912.
