S. Burton Mid-C. O/C Nude w/ Grapes

A mid-century Mexican oil on canvas painting depicting a seated woman in partial artistic nudity. The figure is rendered with closed eyes and long dark hair, draped in a flowing light blue cloth while holding a small cluster of dark grapes. The background is an expressive landscape in dark tones featuring several waterfalls. The work is signed in black paint at the lower right corner S. BURTON. The painting is presented in a tiered gold-toned wooden frame with a wide cream linen liner. The reverse shows the canvas stapled to a wooden stretcher. The top stretcher bar bears a green ink stamp reading MEXICO ABECA and a second stamp reading 20 X 24. A handwritten mark in black ink on the bottom stretcher bar reads D36 3A. The canvas is secured into the frame with nails. 25x29
