Property from the Former Collection of Mr. Ely Calil, London
SALIBA DOUAIHY
1915 - 1994
Lebanese
UNTITLED (WOMEN AT A FOUNTAIN)

signed S. Douaihy
oil on canvas
62 by 46.2cm.; 24½ by 18¼in.
Executed circa 1940s.

Condition Report:
Condition:
This work is in good condition. There is minor unconsolidated craquelure to the paint at the upper centre of the canvas with ensuing small medium loss. The canvas is slightly slacking with some surface undulations and it would benefit from re-stretching, removing of the old varnish, revarnishing and a light clean. There is a minor pin hole to the bottom left. Along the bottom axis of the canvas there is a barely visible line where the work was formerly stretched/framed. There are few very small spots of paint loss in the extreme centre right edge, 2 small spots on the figure on the right and the bottom left. There is no restoration apparent when viewed under the UV light.

Colour:
The catalogue illustration is accurate; however there is more contrast and depth with stronger colours in the original work.
