SANTAREM (2.º Visconde de). OPUSCULOS e Esparsos . Lisboa. 1910-1914.

SANTAREM (2.º Visconde de)
OPUSCULOS e Esparsos . Colligidos e coordenados por Jordão de Freitas. Lisboa: Imprensa Libanio da Silva, 1910-1914.

3 v.; 285 mm.

Extensive compilation of texts by this eminent figure in Portuguese historiography, who held a number of top political and diplomatic positions in the first half of the 19th century. In addition to the positions of Minister of the Kingdom and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the 2nd Viscount of Santarém also stood out for the great contributions he made to Portuguese diplomatic history with his "Elementary Framework of Political and Diplomatic Relations in Portugal" or with "Diplomatic body". He militated against the polemics and contestations over Portuguese rights on the West African and East coasts, which were then emerging in some European nations. The texts gathered in these three volumes are the product of 38 years of literary work, in the most varied situations of the author's public life. The third volume is entirely devoted to the presentation of a smorgasbord of unpublished works.
