C. 224 to 651 AD. Sassanian. A rare bronze vessel with a flaring rim, slightly tapering neck, globular body and flat base. The Sassanian empire which ruled from Afghanistan to Iraq during the third to seventh centuries AD is famed for the high quality of its artisanal products, including glass and metalwares, which were used during banqueting and for religious rituals.
