SASSANIAN DECORATED GLASS FLASK
C. 224 to 651 AD. Sassanian. A decorated glass flask. A rare example of a decorated glass flask in a yellowish-green fabric. The piece comprises a flaring rim and neck, globular body and applied ring foot. The body is decorated with applied trails formed into rings, triangles and diamonds. The Sassanian empire which ruled from Afghanistan to Iraq during the third to seventh centuries AD is famed for the high quality of its ceremonial glassware, which was used during banqueting and for religious rituals.
