SAVON LE CHAT - c.1912
Unusual original lithographed advertising card.
44 x 32 cm. “Imp.Artistique société des Ets Minot - Paris”
Good condition -
The work is striking for the superb freshness of its colors, which are particularly vivid and luminous.
It retains its original date stamp at the top.
There are slight ripples, minor missing areas, and rounded corners; overall, it presents a very fine aesthetic quality.
The illustration depicts an early 20th-century automobile loaded with crates of soap, driven by a mixed crew bringing industrial modernity to the provincial washerwomen.
-A very rare specimen-
The Le Chat brand was created in 1853 by the Marseille soap manufacturer C. Ferrier et Cie.
In 1986, Le Chat lost its Marseille connection: the German group Henkel, after acquiring the UGS (Union Générale des Savonneries) and the Sainte-Marthe factory, relocated the brand to Germany.
