The condition for peace was acceptance of Christianity, under penalty of death. The conversion was effective and Northern Europeans, primarily Saxons, wore a small cross to affirm their Christianity. This example is just under 1” height with cross beam above center and a square block with saltire at the junction. Delicate proportions. Professionally refurbished with gold overlay restored.
