Large frame center hammer 6-shot revolver measuring 14" overall in standard configuration, 7.5" octagonal to round barrel, "ALLEN & WHEELOCK" 2-line address & patent makings on left flat. 536 revolvers were purchased by US government, and this is among the few noted showing inspection cartouches. CONDITION: very good overall, complete, original, & matching. Strong traces of factory blue on barrel & frame with balance smooth gray patina, markings crisp and all discerned. 2-piece walnut grips retain much of their original varnish with 2 letter cartouche stamped on both sides.
