American half stock muzzleloader percussion sporting rifle, likely manufactured c.1839-1845, estimated .37 caliber, the 32.25" octagonal barrel with fixed front and rear sight stamped at left side numbers 4444, further marked "Remington" at left breech end of the straight rifled barrel, wood ramrod, the lock plate marked Moore with foliate and game bird engraving, slightly curved adjustable trigger, brass trigger guard, brass butt plate, trigger not activating hammer, strong hammer spring, the left butt stock with a silvered inlaid arrow through a heart, the right butt stock with a brass cap/ patch box, length: 48.25" **Note: Historic records state that the early Remington operation manufactured barrels and purchased from other suppliers trigger guards, butt plates and lock plates.
