SCHERMERHORN POTTERY ATTRIBUTED, RICHMOND, VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, brushed "2" gallon capacity below handle, ovoid form having squared rim, beaded neck ring with double incised shoulder rings below, and arched handles. Brushed cobalt horizontal petal decoration on both sides, additional cobalt on handles. Attributed to Richmond Factory, John P. Schermerhorn (1788-1850), Henrico Co., VA. 1817-1850.
Condition: Very good overall condition with moderate chip to base. Firing imperfections, including moderate kiln kiss below handle, as made.
Size: 11 1/4" H, 6" D rim.
