SCHRODER KURT FREIHERR VON: (1899-1966) German nobleman, financier and SS-Brigadefuhrer, most famous for hosting the negotiations between members of Paul von Hindenburg's camarilla, Franz von Papen and Adolf Hitler in order to form a government after the German federal election of November 1932. Blue fountain pen ink signature ('Kurt Frihr. v. Schroder') on a slim oblong 12mo piece, neatly laid down to a red and black bordered card. Together with Schroder's official game-shooting ammunition permit, the partially printed small oblong 8vo document, completed in typescript and signed by an unidentified official, with the serial number 570, was issued in Cologne on 21st April 1942 and acknowledges that Schroder had paid a fee of RM50 and a further premium of RM10.50 for liability cover. Bound with two similar game-shooting permit renewal documents for the following two years, up to 31st March 1945, with the serial numbers 138 and 669. Also including Hermann Josef Abs (1901-1994) German banker, the most powerful commercial banker of the Third Reich who was a member of the board of directors of Deutsche Bank from 1938-45.
