20th c., in 19th c. style, Portrait of a Sea Captain, with riband inscribed "Daniel Palkin - Master Mariner - Phocian", dated 1863, marked at bottom "Carved with thanks, J.M." The reverse is a Dentist's advertisement: "A Patent's Tooth", depicting an elderly woman having a tooth pulled, inscribed "James Mara, Surgeon Dentist, 'Taming the Shrew', 22 Cheapside, New Bedford, A gift". 7 1/2" long.
