SEYMCHAN Meteorite Polished piece - 2 kg

[ translate ]

Gorgeous pallasite piece, only the metal part, in which you can see different Widmanstätten patterns. Polished and treated for its preservation. The Widmanstätten pattern is the result of the intergrowth of taenite and kamacite strips, which are two iron and nickel alloys. In order to produce this pattern, very slow cooling is needed, of at least 1 degree Celsius per million years Pallasites contain approximately 50% metal (iron and nickel) and 50% silicates (in olivine form) . They come from the inside large asteroids. Pallasites are one of the most beautiful types of meteorites that exist. They are named after the German zoologist and botanist Peter Simon Pallas, who discovered the first specimen of this type of meteorite in Siberia, Russia, in 1772. At Expometeoritos, we take care of dissemination, talks, workshops, analyses, classification and exhibitions of meteorites.
