A stock document with 40 coupons for the city of San Francisco which was highly in debt in 1851, lithographed by the first lithographers in San Francisco, E.F. Butler. A very early example of these stocks, this one dated 1851 and signed 41 times (at each $50 coupon, and once at center) by John Geary, the first mayor of San Francisco. Also signed by appointed Commissioners of the Funded Debt, P.A. Morse, D.J. Tallent, William Hooper, and James King of William, all very prominent citizens of San Francisco. 38 of the coupons are marked "redeemed" in red ink, the other 2 are stamped, "paid." "Redeemed December 1st, 1851 for cash.." is noted in red ink at the center.
Condition Report: General toning/foxing; appears very good, not examined outside frame.
