SERIAL NUMBER 8971 BARREL 24" CALIBER .52 RIMFIRE MANUFACTURED 1862-65. Civil war US Navy purchase 6686 total Leather covered Sharps and Hankins Model 1862 carbines with case colored actions and brass butt plates. ingle shot lever actuated action with exposed hammer and sliding safety. Marked "SHARPS AND HANKINS PHILADA" on right side of action with serial number on tang and "PATENT 1859" on left side. Banded muzzle with affixed front sight. Rear sight is missing. CONDITION, Fair with detiorted leather barrel shroud. Single shot with functioning action. Stocks is good, full sized and has a couple period small crack and is missing butt sling.
