SHIP CAPTAIN'S LIQUOR CHEST WITH BOTTLES
Late 18th c. Iron Bound Oak Liquor Box, with fitted interior containing twelve glass decanters, exterior with remnants of early paint, forged iron side handles, iron lock, strap hinges, and edging, wallpaper lined lid, includes six large mouth blown rectangular stoppered bottles with unpolished pontils, 8" high, five are original with gilded decoration, one appears to be an early replacement, plus six smaller matching bottles, 5" high, box: 10 3/4" high, 10 7/8" x 11 1/2". Surface wear, scratches and paint losses, lid shrinkage crack, rusted iron surfaces, multiple stopper replacements, interior paper lining losses.
