The monogram most probably stands for the marine painter C (Charles) Kensington (c. 1850-1920)
History:
The ship being built in 1907, in Hylton Sunderland, by Osbourne, Graham & Co. Then as S/S Annette Furness, for Norsk Bjergnings-Kompagnie, Jacobsen W.E., Oslo.
In 1912 the ship was bought by Rederi A/B, Groveland Landskrona and is now named S/S Groveness.
In 1915 it passes to Hogland A/S D/S, Copenhagen, and is now named S/S Hogland.
1915-1918, when the ship sinks after being shelled by a German U-boat, en route from Boston, it is in American possession, and is named SS Winneconne. The final owner will be American Transatlantic .Co.
3rd machinist Herr Knut Nyman, for his part, has proved to be “an exceptionally able and reliable”, and 1st machinist Herr A.J. Palmgren has the pleasure of recommending him “at one and every one of the best”.Show more
