KURAYAMA: A GLAZED CERAMIC NUMBER OF SHOKI By Kurayama, signed Kurayama. Japan, end of the 19th/early 20th century. Excellent condition with only little wear and irregularites from the baking process. The demonic expeller, finely modeled in standing position, clad in armour and a long flowing robe fastened at the waist, his great sword in his lowered right hand, the face with a fierce expression, large bulging eyes, wild and dense hair and beard, billowing in the wind, the details neatly glazed, the back with an imprinted mark Nabeshima-yaki, Kurayama saku ('Made by Kurayama, Nabeshima ware') .
