SIDE TABLE FROM THE COLLECTION OF PRINCESS JULIANA OF ORANGE-NASSAU (1909–2004), QUEEN OF THE NETHERLANDS

Restoration, Paris ca. 1830. Inventory No. R 4922 of the Royal Palace in Soestdijk on the bottom of the leaf.

Bronze and brass, finely punched and patinated black, and gilt. Rectangular green/white speckled marble top, edged in pierced bronze. On castors.

64 × 34 × 69 cm.

Gilding and patina, partly rubbed. Slightly bent in some areas. Two missing petals, at the feet.

Juliana (The Hague 1909-2004 Baarn) was Queen of the Netherlands from 1948 to 1980. She was the only child of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands and Prince Heinrich of Mecklenburg Schwerin.

Part of Queen Juliana's collection was sold in 2011 at Sotheby's Amsterdam for a charitable purpose, including this table, which at the time was furnished with a verre églomisé leaf.
