SIGNED 1835 SCHOOLGIRL PICTORIAL NEEDLEWORK

White Rose in Basket with Butterfly, silk on cotton, inscribed on front in pencil "Wrought by Emily Wilder, Olive L. Nelson, Instructress"; old paper label verso reads "Mrs. Eliza W. Wicks thinks Emily Wilder, her sister was about ten years old when she wrought this in school. That would be about 1835. N.A. Wilder". In the original mitered tiger maple frame, under old glass, with the original backboard, OS: 11 1/2" x 9 1/2", SS: 7 1/4" x 5 1/4". Very good condition.
