SIKORSKI WLADYSLAW: (1881-1943) Polish General and Prime Minister in exile 1939-43 during World War II. An exceptionally fine vintage signed and inscribed sepia 8 x 10 photograph of Sikorski in a semi-profile head and shoulders pose wearing his uniform. Photograph by Blackstone Studios Inc. of New York and bearing their credit stamp to the verso. Signed by Sikorski in bold fountain pen ink to a light area of the image, 'To Air Chief Marshal Sir Frederic W. Bowhill, with cordial greetings, Sikorski, Gen.' and dated London, 11th August 1942 in his hand. A rare signed presentation photograph with excellent association. Some very slight, extremely minor traces of former mounting to the upper edge of the verso, otherwise EX Sir Frederick Bowhill (1880-1960) British Air Chief Marshal of World War II, Air Officer Commanding Ferry Command 1941-43.
