Property from the Antoinette and Patrick Murphy Collection

SIR MATTHEW SMITH
1879-1959
TULIPS IN A WHITE DISH (II)

oil on canvas
92 by 46.5cm.; 36¼ by 18¼in.
Executed in 1928.

Condition Report:
The canvas is original. There is some evidence of bloom to the canvas, notably along the right vertical edge. There is some light surface dirt and dust throughout, and some evidence of studio matter. The varnish appears to be have been slightly unevenly applied. This excepting the work appears to be in very good overall condition.

Inspection under ultra violet light reveals a thick milky varnish which makes further inspection difficult to discern, however there are probably some minor instances of retouching.

The work is held within a carved gilded wooden frame.
