SMITH & WESSON 25-3 125TH ANNIVERSARY REVOLVER

[ translate ]

SERIAL NUMBER: S&W6447. BARREL: 6 1/2". CALIBER: .45COLT. MANUFACTURED: 1977. The Smith & Wesson Model 25-3 125th Anniversary Commemorative Revolver is a highly sought-after, large-frame double-action firearm manufactured exclusively in 1977. Built on the legendary, heavy-duty carbon steel "N" frame with a square-butt profile, this model was designed to celebrate over a century of American gun making innovation spanning from 1852 to 1977. While the Model 25 series was traditionally known for chambering the rimless .45 ACP cartridge using moon clips, Smith & Wesson broke convention for this special milestone by chambering the 25-3 in .45 Colt. This decision bypassed an older, informal industry understanding that left the historic .45 Colt cartridge primarily to Colt-branded single-action revolvers, giving this specific N-frame immediate novelty and high collector appeal from the day it left the factory. Aesthetically, the revolver stands out for its high-polished, deep-luster S&W factory blue finish, which covers a 6 ?" pinned barrel equipped with a matted full top rib. The firing mechanisms are entirely premium, featuring a color case-hardened, wide target hammer spur and a matching grooved target trigger that offer a crisp single-action break and a smooth double-action pull. The firearm is fitted with presentation-grade, oversized smooth walnut target stocks featuring inlaid gold Smith & Wesson medallions. For aiming, it utilizes a fixed serrated front ramp sight with a bright red-orange plastic insert alongside a micro-click adjustable rear sight featuring a white U-outline leaf. What truly defines the 25-3, however, are its gold-filled roll stamps: the left side of the barrel reads .45 CALIBER, the right side reads SMITH & WESSON / 125TH ANNIVERSARY, and the right sideplate proudly displays an intricate 125th Anniversary seal encircled by olive branches. The wood presentation case is lined with a form-fitted, vibrant blue velvet interior. Tucked securely inside the lid of the case by two leather straps is a hardcover copy of the definitive historical text, "125 Years with Smith & Wesson," authored by the company's legendary historian, Roy G. Jinks. The package is rounded out by a heavy, pewter-toned commemorative coin that mirrors the anniversary seal stamped onto the gun's frame. Because only 10,000 units were produced in this configuration, and because the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives officially recognizes them as Curio & Relic (C&R) firearms, pristine and unfired examples remain prized centerpiece additions to American wheel-gun collections. CONDITION: Excellent. C&R. 27-280
