SMITH & WESSON MODEL .22 / 32 KIT GUN MFG. 1935

[ translate ]

SERIAL NUMBER: 531311 BARREL: 4" CALIBER: 22 LR. MANUFACTURED: 1935. The Smith & Wesson .22/32 Kit Gun, manufactured around 1935 with serial number 531311, is a highly desirable pre-World War II rimfire revolver built on S&W?s small, vintage I-frame. This specific serial number places the firearm directly into the initial production window of the official 4-inch "Kit Gun" configuration, which began around late 1935 near serial number 525,000. Designed as a compact companion for hikers, campers, and fishermen to carry in their utility "kits," this model blended the pocket-sized frame of a pocket revolver with the precision target sights usually reserved for much larger target handguns. Chambered for the ubiquitous .22 Long Rifle cartridge, this six-shot revolver features a fluted swing-out cylinder with a traditional hand ejector mechanism. It is distinguished by its 4-inch barrel, an adjustable rear notch sight, and a pinned front sight blade. From the factory, a specimen from this era typically featured a deep, high-polished S&W carbon steel bluing, a case-hardened hammer and trigger, and checkered walnut extension grips inlaid with the classic silver S&W monogram medallions. Because it was manufactured prior to World War II, this revolver exhibits a level of hand-fitted craftsmanship, fine checkering, and precise machining that became rare in post-war production. It represents the direct evolutionary bridge between the older 6-inch .22/32 Heavy Target "Bekeart" models and the post-war Model 34 Kit Gun. CONDITION: Vert good. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is a cylinder line present but no carbon rings. Tight lock up. Appears to have seen very little use. Retains fantastic blueing. C&R. 27-219
