[ translate ]

SERIAL NUMBER: AJC6492. BARREL: 8 3/8". CALIBER: .44 MAGNUM. MANUFACTURED: 1986. The Smith & Wesson Model 629-1 is a classic, large-frame double-action revolver chambered in .44 Magnum and built on the company's famous N-frame platform. This particular firearm features a striking stainless steel construction paired with an impressive 8 3/8-inch barrel, a configuration highly favored for long-range target shooting and hunting. It is equipped with traditional wood grips adorned with silver-tone Smith & Wesson medallions, highlighting the iconic craftsmanship of its era. Bearing the serial number AJC 6492, this model represents the mid-1980s engineering transition where the manufacturer streamlined production by eliminating the pinned barrel and recessed cylinder characteristics of earlier iterations while maintaining the exceptional durability and smooth performance the series is known for. Mechanically, the firearm is outfitted with a six-shot cylinder, a red ramp front sight, and a micro-click adjustable white outline rear sight to provide a distinct, high-visibility sight picture. It incorporates a 0.500-inch target hammer alongside a smooth 0.400-inch target trigger, ensuring crisp single-action breaks and a highly controllable double-action pull. Furthermore, the solid, unribbed barrel features a shrouded ejector rod that protects the spent casing extraction mechanism, while the top strap is factory-treated with a glare-reducing serrated finish designed to prevent reflections when aiming in bright daylight conditions. CONDITION: Very Good. 95%. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is an ever so slight cylinder line and the presence of carbon rings. The bottom of the grips show minor finish wear and marks. The revolver has been fired very little. There appears to be post factory buffing on the left side of the frame next to the grip thumb rest. The lock up is excellent. Operates normally. 27-195
