[ translate ]

SERIAL NUMBER: 81768. BARREL: 5". CALIBER: .38 S&W SPECIAL / U.S. SERVICE CTG. MANUFACTURED: circa 1906. This revolver is a Smith & Wesson .38 Military & Police Model of 1905, First Change (Round Butt Variation) bearing serial number 81768. Manufactured between 1906 and 1907, it features a 5-inch barrel and represents a highly specialized, historically rich configuration from the pre-World War I era. Built on the iconic K-frame platform, the handgun was designed for comfortable belt carry by early 20th-century law enforcement or security personnel. The left side of the barrel features the rare dual-caliber stamping ".38 S&W Special & U.S. Service CTG," indicating it was engineered to accept both commercial ammunition and the military's standard .38 Long Colt cartridges. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with a series of manufacturing dates ending in the July 7, 1903 patent date, which protected the design of the cylinder's extractor mechanism. The firearm retains its factory-correct black hard rubber grips, often referred to by collectors as "Gutta-Percha." These stocks display a finely molded checkered pattern and the prominent, intertwined Smith & Wesson monogram logo at the top. CONDITION: Fair-Good. The nickel finish has largely worn, especially on the cylinder. Good lock up. The bore is shiny with crisp rifling. Operates normally. C&R 27-534
