Toshiro Mifune acted in 170 movies throughout his life. He is especially known for his work with the director Akira Kurosawa between 1948 and 1965, which - among other titles - resulted in “Rashomon”, “The seven Samurais” and “Yojimbo”. The later part of his life brought him the role as Lord Toranaga, based upon James Clavell's novel “Shogun” (1980).
