SOLD. Hans J. Wegner: "PP 203". Early armchair of patinated oak, inlays of wengé. Manufactured by PP Møbler, marked by Johannes Hansen. – Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers of Fine Art
Hans J. Wegner (b. Tønder 1914, d. Gentofte 2007)
“PP 203”. Early armchair of patinated oak, inlays of wengé. Manufactured by PP Møbler, marked by Johannes Hansen.
In the late 1960's, Wegner designed two prototypes, which were further developed in collaboration with PP Furniture. Wegner offered the workshop that they could produce prototypes if they were interested, but cabinetmaker Ejnar Pedersen chose to produce only one. And in 1969, pp203 was launched.
With pp203, PP Furniture began to produce Wegner models and was no longer just a subcontractor, as it had been for many years. In the first years, however, the chair was sold through Johannes Hansen Møbelsnedkeri A / S, as PP Furniture does not yet had its own sales organization. Therefore, pp203 can be seen with Johannes Hansen tin signs. Source PP Furniture.
Condition Report:
Wear due to age and use, including scratches, marks and notches. Sign of damb on armrests. Leather with stains and dirt.
