“The various colors symbolize the different layers on the earth’s atmosphere from troposphere in the bottom to the exosphere (space) on top. When I saw the sculpture for the first time, it was completely white, and I thought that it really needed colors. Then the shape inspired me to develop the idea to represent the earth's atmosphere, the bottom part of the piece symbolizes the earth’s colors plus the sky and the top part represents space with the separation between the 2 parts”.
About the artist: French but based in Denmark, Victor primarily works with lithography, canvases and installations. He has exhibited his work at galleries and museums all over the world since the 1980s and is known for his figurative, monochrome images in large scale.
