SONGYE NKISI POWER FIGURE

Ca. 19th - 20th century AD > A Songye nkisi figure with a large head, rounded abdomen and hands placed at the front of the body. Apertures and inserted elements punctuate the torso, which rises from a rounded base.Songye nkishi figures were created through the collaboration of a carver and a ritual specialist.
