SPANISH AMERICAN WAR SILK EMBROIDERED SOUVENIR

Souvenir embroidery which reads "My Service in China, Manila, and Philippines" across the top. Curiously, the piece was originally embroidered to read "Philippine Islands" but the word "Islands" has been shortened. 19" x 23" silk embroidered with American, British, French, and other flags as well as two beautifully embroidered American flags, a federal eagle, laurel wreath, and stars. The eagle is perched atop a silver wire bullion anchor. At the center in a patriotic frame is a photo of a soldier in his service uniform and below that a piocture of naval combat during the Span-Am war. Unnamed and unidentified. The silk is badly separated across the top between the words and the stars, and several other places it has fraying and separation. If stabilized, this would make a beautiful display piece. Good
