SPECTACULAR CHILE/G.B. COMBINATION COVER WITH THE VERY RARE RED "PAID/LIVERPOOL/P.S. PACKET" C.D.S.; Remarkable 20 Feb. 1876 env. (vertical crease well clear of stamps & the "PS" cds) from Concepcion (Chile) to Scotland "via Magellane [Straits route]" franked both by a G.B. 1/- Green (pl.12) and by two Chile 1867 5c Reds; the latter cancelled by poor barred "CANCELLED" marks and the GB stamp tied (in transit) by a superb tall Liverpool "466" Numeral. There is a partial 2-ring red "CONCEPCION/CHILE" cds on the front beside a very fine and very rare red "PAID/LIVERPOOL/P.S. PACKET" cds (16 Apr.). By this date, the separate cancellation of Chilean and GB stamps in their respective countries had become the norm, but Parmenter only recorded three such Chile/GB later Combination Covers. Doubly rare; the exceptional Combination Over usage, and the very rare "PAID/LIVERPOOL/P.S. PACKET" datestamp of which Howat only recorded 6 examples!!
