SPECTACULAR SATSUMA COVERED JAR, MEIJI. Of baluster form the sides covered with raised gilt and polychrome decoration depicting a dragon amongst a gathering of figures and the dome fitted lid also with dragon and gilt ball finial. Signed on underside of base. Height 18.5 inches (47 cm).

Condition Report: Overall very good condition. Ultraviolet black light examination reveals no restoration or repairs. There is some minor wear to the gilding on the finial of lid and there is some staining to the crackle glaze on the lower section in the undecorated areas.
