Folio (395 x 272 mm). 10 (of 11) leaves containing 9 (of 10) engraved illustrations, extracted from Opera quae extant omnia. Disbound. Toned, some creases, a few very small marginal chips and tears.

Extracts from the first collected edition of Spieghel's work. "Spieghel succeeded Giulio Casserio to the chair of anatomy at the University of Padua; his name survives in the terms linea Spigelii (the linea alba on the midline aponeurosis of the abdominal muscles) and lobus caudatus hepatis Spigelii" (Norman 1987). De formatu foetu (first published in 1626) was an unfinished manuscript edited by Spieghel's son-in-law, who illustrated the 1626 edition with nine copperplates. In the Opera omnia, vander Linden added a 10th engraving to De formatu foetu, which is lacking here. Garrison-Morton 61.2; Heirs of Hippocrates 415; Krivatsy 11294; Waller 9124.
