SPRINGFIELD M1816 US RECONVERSION FLINTLOCK
MUSKET. Cal. 69. Fit with a 42" unmarked bbl held with 3 bands retained by barrel band springs. The forward band has an integral brass balde front sight. The mid band is a later replacement with sling swivel. Replacement ramrod. The reconverted lock is marked SPRING/FIELD/1836 at the rear with a US/Eagle at the center. The stock has been carved on by various owners with the right side marked WMR/1883. The left side is is written in pencil 1827/103/YEARS/OLD. US marked buttplate. Iron furniture. CONDITION: Overall fair. The metal surfaces have a dark patina with old pits. The stock has numerous scattered handling marks, as well as, some wood loss in the bbl & ram rod channel and around the lock. A small repair is found just forward of the lock and a crack is found in the sideplate area. There are no visible cartouches. (01-30104/ZAL) ANTIQUE $800-1200
