STAFFORDSHIRE PEARLWARE VARIEGATED-PEBBLE SURFACE
AGATE TEAPOT AND COVER circa 1780-1790, attributed to the Ralph Wood Family, of oval cylindrical form with straight spout and grooved strap handle, the slightly domed cover with spaniel finial, overlaid with a thin layer of shredded agate in shades of blue, brown, ochre, black and cream clays, h: 3 1/2 x w: 7 1/2 in.

Rickard references both an RA WOOD, Burslem marked example and an auction notice of 1794, listing the contents of Ralph Wedgwood's London warehouse, where this layered mosaic or tessellated surface is possibly referred to as 'Terra Tersia'.
