STAMPED "N. FOX", CHATHAM CO., NORTH CAROLINA STONEWARE DIMINUTIVE JUG, salt-glazed, approximately one-quart capacity, graceful ovoid form with short neck, rounded mouth, and strap handle. Inscribed "N. FOX" on front. Nicholas Fox (1797-1858), Chatham Co., NC. Circa 1840. 8" H, 3 1/2" D base.
Glaze roughness to mouth, one glaze flake to neck, and two glaze flakes to handle with small hole to base, otherwise undamaged.
