STAMPED "S. BELL & SON. / STRASBURG" SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately half-gallon capacity, cylindrical form with squared rim. Brushed cobalt dropped feather decoration repeated three times off shoulder. The pottery of Samuel Leonard Bell (1811-1891) and/or his sons Richard Franklin, Turner Ashby, and Charles Forrest. 1882-1905.
Condition: Very good condition, except some flakes to rim and one flake to base edge. Firing imperfections, including pops, as made.
Size: 8 1/8" H, 5 1/4" D rim.
