STAMPED "T R WADDELL / VA" ALLEGHANY CO., VALLEY OF VIRGINIA STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, slight ovoid form with collared flat-top rim. Thomas Waddell's pottery on Christley's Run, near Boiling Spring, VA. Circa 1850-1870.
Condition: Some flakes to rim, otherwise undamaged. Firing and manufacturing imperfections, including moderate stone pops and "VA" stamp irregularly placed.
Size: 10 1/4" H, 5 3/8" D rim.
