[ translate ]

Ancient and Exceptional MBALA "PINDI” (BANDUNDU) DRC (former Zaire) . Neighbours of the Yaka and the Suku, some two hundred thousand of Mbala populate the Province of Bandundu (DRC) . The Mbala statuary is very rare, the last authentic sculptures are anterior to 1960. The piece presented here is of an exceptional beauty, with an interiorised expression, illustrated by the "tears", the hands are brought back to the belly, with generous breasts and an exaggerated gender. Some “tapestry” nails ornament the forehead. Wood, height 65 cm, brown nuanced patina with a few frictions due to the antiquity. Stand in plexiglas. Wood, height 65 cm, nuanced brown patina. It would have been collected in the Eric KABUYA family before 1930, it then belonged to the TOURVILLE Collection (Canada) and then the French collection, since 1975.
