Very good impressions of these extremely scarce etchings, with strong contrasts and no sign of wear.The villa and surrounding gardens of Pratolino, near Florence, were commissioned by Grandduke Francesco I de' Medici (1541-1587) and supervised by Bernardo Buontalenti (1531-1608) during the late 1500s. Among the most spectacular sights, and one the etchings in this group, is the Colosso dell'Appennino, a fountain/grotto designed by Giambologna (1529-1608) and completed around 1579-80.
