Susette Keast studied at the Philadelphia School of Design for Women and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts under Henry Snell, Elliott Daingerfield, Hugh Breckenridge, Thomas Anshutz and William Merritt Chase. She was a later member of the "Philadelphia Ten" group of female artists.
