Saddam Hussein Handwritten Letter and Portrait - This lot includes a handwritten letter in Iraqi Arabic signed by Saddam Hussein regarding the May 22, 1980 meeting of Iraq's Revolutionary Command Council. This council was originally established in 1968 following the July 17, 1968 military coup overthrowing then-president Abdul Rahman Arif, thereby establishing Ba'athist Iraq. Saddam Hussein ascended to the presidency of Iraq in 1979, who served as the Chairman of the Revolutionary Command Council, and remained in power until he was overthrown in 2003. This lot also includes a portrait of Saddam Hussein, as well as an English translation of the Iraqi Arabic letter. This framed lot measures approximately 19 in x 23 in, and includes the original certificate of authenticity issued by Scott Velvet, president of Hollywood Rock-N Country.
