Saint John used to be the favorite apprentice of Christ; he was the author of the fourth Gospel and the Book of Revelation, the Apocalypse. Condition: gesso ground exposed, authentic condition. This icon is a great sample of traditional ancient Russian icon-painting. Very high level of painting. Provenance: private collection Germany. Every icon is sold with extensive written expertise.
