Salor Chuval

In November 2023, two Salor chuvals of the three primary gul type were sold at our auction A 105. Both examples came from the collection of Albert Hornbach and were two of the best examples of their kind. The Salor chuval offered here was likewise owned by a German private collector and is another masterpiece. It probably dates from the 18th century or even earlier. Its ground colour is not the cool dark red seen in lot 46, but a warm brick-red as in lot 156 of A 105. Light blue, yellow and petrol are also encountered. The overall impression of the chuval is lighter and more colourful than that of other Salor weavings. The gul centres of ruby silk are heavily corroded. In the elem, the spacious arrangement of the 15 very beautifully drawn trees is a striking feature.

Pile in good condition. The ruby-red silk is almost completely corroded. Damage to the sides in places. No kilim back.
