Salvatore Corvaya (1872-1962) - Ritratto di Vittoria Marini Tuccio

[ translate ]

Salvatore Corvaya (Licata, 1872 - Milan, 1962) , Portrait of Vittoria Marini Tuccio, watercolor miniature on opaline, 11. 5 x 9 cm, dimensions including the frame 12. 5 x 9. 5 cm, signed lower right.

Salvatore Corvaya was one of the major Sicilian artists of the 19th and early 20th centuries. After moving to Milan to carry out his military service, he exhibited his first work at the Triennale in 1896 and in 1898 he participated in the General Exhibition of Turin.
Corvaya became a highly appreciated artist, especially as a portraitist, working in both traditional and miniature formats. His modern and elegant portraits guarantee him a wide range of clients and admirers among the figures of the Italian upper class and nobility.
The miniature in question, which portrays a Sicilian gentlewoman, is a very high exercise in style and technique: some details, such as the ring on the hand or the definition of the light points on the earrings, are not even visible to the naked eye and are created with a single bristle brush, using a loupe. The result is technically stunning.

The work is in excellent condition.
Framed in a finely crafted 800 silver frame.

Work provided with Certificate of Authenticity and Legitimate origin.
Shipped via express courier 24/48 hours with INSURANCE.

Please note that in the case of SALE ABROAD the shipment can only be made AFTER HAVING OBTAINED THE EXPORT AUTHORIZATION FROM THE MINISTRY OF CULTURAL HERITAGE (Certificate of Free Movement of Fine Arts) . This practice generally involves a minimum WAIT of approximately 20 days.
