Egerton in London, 1790 A beautiful 2-volume illustrated travel book about The Netherlands, Belgium and Northern France. The plates were engraved by Cornelis Apostool of Amsterdam (First Director of the Rijksmuseum) . With fine views of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Leiden, Antwerp (BE) , Paris (FR) , Brussels (BE) , Haarlem, Breda, The Hague, Delft, Dordrecht, Gorinchem, Bergen op Zoom, Rijswijk, Scheveningen, Vianen, Amiens (FR) , Dover (UK) Valenciennes (FR) and several views of Paris (FR) during the French Revolution. Description: Two leather-bound volumes with gilt titles on spine. Vignette on title page of each volume. Copper plate aqua tint plates all with tissue guards. All plates present, 28 in the frist volume, 16 in the second volume. Condition: Nice and well-preserved copies on strong, thick paper. Crease marks and cracks along the edges of the spine of each volume (see detail photos) . Top of the spines heavily worn (see photos) . Binding is still good and tight however, with book blocks firmly held together. Plates come with some foxing, mostly along the page edges (see photos) . Overall good condition given the age of these historic volumes.
